Daily Prayer for October 10, 2019

Prayer: Almighty God and heavenly Father, we bow before Your throne this morning. You alone are the true Sovereign of heaven and earth, and You alone direct the affairs of men. Your Word tells us that evildoers will rise against us, and You have told us to not fret because of what they do (Psa. 37). We confess to You that we are often anxious and worry because of the behavior of wicked people. We confess our lack of trust in You during times of opposition, threats, lies, and other despicable and discouraging seasons when depraved people come against us. Forgive us for not looking to You, especially in these times. Help us to trust You. Help us to commit our ways to You. Help us not to avenge ourselves, or seek the ruin of our enemies (Rom. 12:17-21). Teach us to love our enemies, and to pray for those who persecute us (Matt. 5:43, 44). Help us, by Your Holy Spirit, to do what is contrary to our sinful flesh and to demonstrate the Savior in all of our responses to wicked people we pray in Christ's Name. Amen.
